New electricity tariffs in Cape Town – what do you need to know?

So, today the new electricity tariffs came into effect in Cape Town – for residents who buy their electricity from the municipality as opposed to those who buy direct from Eskom. This means most Capetonians, save a few unlucky souls in parts of Tableview and Durbanville who were hit by an increase in April.

This post is aimed at those of you who are paying the municipality and not Eskom. Alderman Ian Neilson (an alderman is a senior councilor in the municipality) released a press statement a couple of days ago with all of the details, and if you’re interested you can check it out here.
